Measuring To Install New Window

Accuracy is extremely important when it comes to measuring your windows. It ensures that your new windows will fit, and work properly. Giving you maximg savings and comfort for your home.

Measurements should be done from inside your home. This provides the replacement window to fit inside the window frame.

Step 1
To find the width you must measure from the jab inside to the opposite jab on the other side. Make sure to take the measurement from th bottom, middle and top. The narrowest measurement should be used as the width of your replacement windows.

Step 2
To find the height of the window, you must measure from the sill. Start from the top to the bottom of the head jamb. Measure from right, middle, and left of the window. The shortest measurement should be used as the height of your replacement window.

Remove Window Sashes

Your new replacement window will fit the inside of the current window frame. All that needs to be removed are the sashes. To do so, part the bead and inside stop from the current windows. Install your new window from the inside of your home, to make it safer and easier for you.

Step 1
Remove the stop pieces from inside the window. These pieces will be reused when installing the replacement windows.

Step 2
Extract the inside sash. If your current windows use weighs, cut the chains, or the cords. Let the weights fall, and leave them.

Step 3
Slide the outside sash towards the bottom. Discard parting beads. Remove the outside sash as the inside. Please do not remove exterior stop. The stops wil hold the new windows.

Step 4
Clean the sills and jambs. If the old windows had weights, remove them or drive the pulley into the frame. Fill holes with caulk.

New Window Install

Take time to properly install and adjust your new window to get all the benefits.

Step 1
Mark sill for sills angle. Then install the sill angle.

Step 2
Center the bottom and top sashes vertcally in the new frame. Slide the stops to the center of the window frame until the mounting holes are visible.

Step 3
Place the expander, on the top and calulk the top of it.

Step 4
Check to see if the window opening is square. If the window isn’t square in the opening, just shim it. Install the screws of each side of the side jamb. Don’t screw too tightly, they might defore the jambs.

Step 5
Seal any gap between the top and the frame by sliding the header up.

Step 6
Slide the window up and down to check for a smooth operation. If they don’t slide up smoothly, adjust the screws located on the side jambs. This will adjust the frame.

Step 7
Caulk the window and reinstall the stops.
